Team Batsman: Vicky(c), Shahmir, Reyaz, Buland, Ameen, Sumit, Vikash & Faisal

Team Bowlers; Tanzeel(c), Afaque, Afsal, Maaz, Yuvi, Gaj, Suraj & Rehan (jr)

Bowlers vs batsman...who played well...who won? That was decided today....and guess what....batsman prevailed on the both the ocassion. Off day for bowlers...who couldnt defend their scores

1st match: Bowlers willing to bat first scored 84 in 12 overs. Batsman easily chased it down in the 10th over

Highlights of the match

- Tanzeel and Gaj started offf cautiously, Tanzeel scoring bulk of the runs in their partnership of 23 in 3 overs
- A few quick wickets and meaty blows from Yuvi and Afsal took the score to 63 in 7 overs
- But then batsman too had bowlers in Vikash, Buland and Vicky. They applied brakes and strangled bowlers and their innings folded to only 84 in 12 overs
- Vicky provided a powerful start to batsman's inning. He picked up 19 runs in Maaz's first over
- Wicket of Reyaz Vicky Ameen and few others fell and 40 runs still remaining, the bowling team thought they had a chance. Little did they knew that Faisal and Sumit will finish it off. Faisal hitting clean sixes showed his class after he was off color for couple of months in the past

2nd match: 10 overs match. Start for bolwers were not good. But they still managed 75 which batsman team chased down in 9th over.

Highlights

- Yuvi and suraj did belt few out of the park in their respective knocks
- Vikash was difficult to score. Vicky and Buland supported him well. Bowlers didn't score much to defend against a strong line up of batsman
- The team will find it difficult if it's star bowler like afsal find difficulty in getting his rythm. Few extras and occasional boundaries in his over depleted the moral of the bowling team
- Faisal picked up from where left in the first game. Vikash was in sublime touch while scoring against Afsal and Afaque
- Yuvi tried to pull things back after taking couple of wickets but it was quite late
- Vicky came in the end finished it off in style to make it 2-0 and a memorable day for the team full of batsman

May 23, 2015

It was just past noon. The day was Monday, still 5 days to go for Saturday-the day we all wait eagerly to arrive. My whatsapp was full of notifications and more than 95% of it were from Rockerzzz group. And why not that Saturday was supposed to entertain the most anticipated match of the season. The build up to that match had to be electric. So, it was!
Watch YouTube intro here
People were practising. They were criticizing. Lot of banters, lot of mauka dubsmash were created. All in all the oppositions were wishing luck to the other team, silently hoping their form goes away on the D-day. Never before in the recent past a turnout of this figure (23 in total) was witnessed.

RoI at left and KKR at right

KKR team pic before the match

1st match: KKR won the toss and opted to bat first. They managed 79 in 12 overs. RoI chased it down in the thrilling last over

Highlights from the game

 - RoI bowlers targeted Vicky from the start. And they got their man cheaply within 3 overs.
 - Maaz and Gaj were the pick among their bowlers who stick to basics and kept taking wickets at regular intervals, never giving enough room to let KKR score freely
 - Tanzeel and Vikash tried to rebuild the innings but they were slow and KKR scoring rate never took off
 - Vikash gave a stupendous start to KKR. He took 2 wickets in his first over with his slow left arm leg spin
 - KKR too were among wickets with Suraj chipping in along with Vikash. The target of 80 seemed far but RoI had a good battting line up to chase down even though wickets were falling
 - One bad over from mehran which went for 18 runs scored by Sumit brought back the much needed momentum for RoI
 - RoI required 28 runs in the last 4 overs. With Afsal still in the crease the runs were still achievable. But 2 good overs from Vikash (1 run) and Suraj (5 runs) brought the down the equation to 22 off 12 balls
 - Farooq the man to go to during death overs was assigned the task. But Afsal had other thoughts. 2 huge sixes in that over titled the balance in RoI's favor
 - 8 runs in the last over couldn't be defended when Afsal is in marauding mood. A six off Rehan's 3rd ball sealed the match

2nd match: KKR gave RoI a target of 98 to chase this time. RoI couldn't replicate their efforts this time and fell by 43 runs scoring only 55 in 12 overs

Highlights from the match
 - Vicky and Tausif were superb from the start.Their innings started in 4th gear, scoring more than half of their team runs (24 and 30 respectively)
 - Tausif charged Buland in one of his overs and picked up 24 runs. Mehran was the happiest as he was thinking "okay someone got hit more than me"
 - RoI tried to pull things back by taking quick wickets. Gaj again along with Maaz and Yuvi were the ones who tried and kept KKR not cross 100 runs
 - Choke is the word best describing KKR bowlers doing to RoI batsman. Vikash, Suraj and Mehran in their inital overs gave away only 22 runs in 7 overs
 - Even for Afsal it was going to be tough to cover up the remaining 76 runs in 5 overs.
 - A little over 19 runs (3 consecutive sixes from Afsal) off Rehan's over gave some hope to RoI and a little scare to KKR. But scoring more than 55 runs in the last 3 over was going to be tough even for ABD, Gayle and Yuvraj
 - KKR had Piyush Chawla (suraj) and Narine (Vikash) along with Pollock (Farooq). 2 good overs from former two brought the equation to 44 off the last over
 - Tanzeel finally getting a chance to bowl gave just 1 run and took 2 wickets to complete a resounding victory by KKR

May 17, 2015

1st match: Team A (Reyaz captain) won the toss and elected to bat. Team B had the worst possible start and gave away 80 runs all out in 9 overs. Team B couldn't chase that and could only manage 46 runs in their allotted 12 overs

Highlights
 - Vicky and Ameen scored 33 runs in the first overs. Afaque and Rehan gave away too many. They couldn't capitalize on the wet and overcast conditions. Full tosses, overpitches in addition to bad fielding help Team A get away bulk of the runs in the initial 2 overs
 - However Team B did get together after a horrific start and made a wonderful comeback with the ball. Suraj and Rehan were the chief architect of the collapse of Team A batting lineup
 - Once Vicky (sr) got out, it was a matter of time. Rehan took a hattrick and Suraj gave him a good partnership
 - Good performance with the ball was not backed up by Team B's batting. Team A was too good with the ball. They utilized the wet conditions excellently. Not giving them the runs, they were successful in choking Team B
 - Maaz bowled an economical spell. For Team B 81 seemed too distant away even though not many wickets fell

Rehan after his hat-trick

2nd match: Team B had to chase 99 and yet again they fell behind by 23 runs

Highlights
 - Vicky as usual gave his team a flying start. Team A was guided well by Iqbal in the middle and Reyaz towards the end. That gave them a healthy total of 98 runs
 - As one can imagine Team B would have find it tough this time around. But after the fall of Tausif and Vicky (jr) in the initial overs, Tanzeel and Afaque did well to keep the required run rate achievable.
 - Unfortunate run out of Tanzeel and quick wickets of Afaque and Vishal gave them the set back
 - Suraj did gave them a hope after a few lofty blows off Vicky (sr) and Gaj's bowling but the ask of 26 runs from 3 overs and last wicket hand was too tough an ask. The new man (Vivek) couldn't hold on and got out leaving Suraj stranded at the other end
 - Gaj and Maaz the strike bowlers from the Team A was too happy with their performance

Tausif stabilized the innings and once Afnan retired, it was 35 runs required of 5 overs. Suraj and Tausif made sure that there was no further collapse and achieved the score within 10.2 overs without any further loss of wickets.

2nd Match: This match was a complete different affair from the first match. It was a 10 overs match. Vicky jr and Reyaz opened the innings. Vicky jr started hitting all the bowlers out of the park. Suraj dismissed Reyaz and Sumit to bring a halt to the scoring but Vishal had other plans. He demolished the bowling in the penultimate overs hitting Rehan for 20+ runs in the final over taking the score to a mamooth total of 131.

Tausif and Ameen opened the innings . But the team saw a quick collapse of 3 wickets of Tausif , Ameen and Suraj for 9 runs. The score stood at 9/3 at the end of 3 overs.
